How to obtain a UK resale license?

-I am hoping to start an online business. I do not have a specific product line or niche at the moment, however I know for sure I will not be selling anything such as firearms, alcohol, 18+ media e.t.c.



I will be selling items from the UK, within the UK. I will also like to ship to other countries if that is what customers require.



I understand that in order to purchase wholesale goods and sell them individually for a profit that I must have a resale license, but I do not know how to apply for one.



If you are unsure of the answer, maybe you could at least point me in the right direction as I am clueless.

Also, is there any sort of tax-trap I must look out for?
